| While volunteering for a local rescue, we were introduced to the shelter system. Part of our volunteer work included going to the shelters and taking pictures of the dogs there and posting them as courtesy listings on the rescue site. This gave the dogs more exposure and got people from different areas, who may not have known about these dogs otherwise, to go to the shelters and adopt. We enjoyed doing this work so much that we decided to focus our efforts on these dogs. Purpose of the site We created this site to feature dogs that are still in shelters and desperately need to find loving, forever homes. In some cases adopting one of these dogs means saving a life. We are also listing some dogs that are in rescues. They are not as urgent as the shelter dogs but adopting a dog from a rescue makes more room for another dog to be rescued. We also would like to help the dogs that being rehomed by their owners. We hope that by getting these dogs seen, they will stay out of the shelter. Creating a bond with your dog through teaching We feel very strongly about educating owners so that hopefully there is no reason for a dog to be given up. Training is great for the bond between you and your dog. Dogs love to learn, but they need you to show them how. It just takes love and guidance to see these "unwanted" dogs become the wonderful family members they truly are.
