What's it like to be a Foster Parent?

.
Our Foster Care Program
Being a foster parent means that you are providing a dog with the chance of a new life that he or she deserves.  You will provide love and guidance to your foster pet so that they can move on to their forever homes with conifidence and the socialization skills that they need.

We will provide you with everything that you need for the animal while in your care.  This includes food, bedding, a crate, toys and vet care.  If you have any of these things already and wish to provide it as a donation to help the group, it is greatly appreciated.

We hear a lot of people say they could never foster because it would be too hard to give the dog up.  We know how you feel, because we all felt the same way. We want to keep them all, and some are harder to give up then others. There  there is joy in helping a neglected, abused, or simply unwanted animal turn into a happy and healthy one. Watching them find that special someone who will love  them for the rest of their life is priceless. When you meet the new family who's ready to provide a permanent, loving home for the dog you've helped rescue, you will feel more than satisfied to see the dog move on to a new and better life. So, shed a few tears, hand over the leash, and call us to  foster another rescue! There is always another dog who needs your loving foster home.
Adopting a dog saves a life .... fostering saves many, one at a time.

TO MY FOSTER FAMILY

There I sat, alone and afraid,
You got a call and came right to my aid.
You bundled me up with blankets and love.
And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug.
I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold.
That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.
You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend.
You loved me and healed me and became my first friend.
And just when I thought you'd done all you do,
There came along not one new lesson, but two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go.
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know."
Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss.
Along came a new family, they even have kids!
They took me to their home, forever to stay.
At first I thought you sent me away.
Then that second lesson became perfectly clear.
No matter how far, you will always be near.
And so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on.
I have a new home, with toys and a lawn.
But I'll never forget what I learned that first day.
You never really give your fosters away.
You gave me these thoughts to remember you by.
We may never meet again, and now I know why.
You'll remember I lived with you for a time.
I may not be yours, but you'll always be mine.
